Mesh Mixer - Refinements

Image
For my Mixer project I decided to move forward with my "Rich Turtle", in our critique sessions I met with a few of my classmates and decided between my Book Burger, Rich Turtle, and skull Basket. I had some good review and support from Inas, Gabriel, and Kaylee, who all found the turtle was a good choice to add more decoration, refine the gold pile, and possibly add some pirates/shipwreck. I chose to go with some pirates but to pass on the ship because it's quite large and busy. I also added some palm trees to give more of that traditional pirates feel.               My thoughts behind remix culture revolve around cooperation, sharing of knowledge, and inspiration from other people. I really love the aspect of one way collaboration and how it also translates to other forms of art. Whether we like it or not we are inspired by other people and often times trying to be truly unique on your own is a really creatively stifling experience. Remixes compose a large portion

Mesh Mashup! A tool of tricksters

During this assignment I was brought to the full realization of how I really like to interpret remix culture. I find myself fascinated by turning an objects function on its head when the form is altered and combined with another object and its perceived function. I really am inspired by humorous situations, puns, oddities, and purposeless situations. It leads to playful daydreaming about what my favourite objects really are and how I can turn their meaning away from itself, and embrace a new feature (or bug!).             Cheese Grader I was originally looking for a cheese grader on thingiverse, when I came across both a block of cheese and a road grader... you can see how this one naturally formed. Get it? ( cheese ,  grader ) Banan Boat I was thinking of weird things to put on a boat or possibly use in place of sails... bananas! ( Banana 1 ,  Banana 2 ,  Boat ,  Ocean ) Basket o' Skulls  In making this one I thought of   just what oddly cute things I could make, I decided to go s

Objectified Response

During the documentary Objectified by Gary Hustwit I sketched down some notes and quotes of things that spoke to me, things that I thought I valued in a design philosophy. Some of the important insights I gathered were adding interesting touch points or textures, personal values, sustainability, and the idea that every object tells a story. I decides to imbed some of these aspects in my second tinkercad model paper tree frame.  Paper Tree Frame     With this design I wanted to make something that is common, but not commonly made out of paper. My model doesn't yet translate to the physical material stage, but it's in my realm of ideas. I decided to make a picture frame, to encapsulate my love for capturing memories and sharing them in a way that preserves their physical presence and brings them to reality, instead of leaving those memories in our ephemeral and abstract minds. My story for this design is rooted in my great collection of mostly outdoor pictures that I lo
